The commissioning of a NaCl crystallization unit has recently been carried out in a Peruvian mine, located in the middle of the Andean mountains, 3000m above sea level.
France Evaporation has successfully delivered, assembled and commissioned this unit of crystallization on a turnkey basis.
Among many other challenges, the following key targets have been met : volume reduction of highly corrosive salty waters from 36 ton/h down to 2 ton/h of salts produced in a solid form (crystals), while complying with quite severe conditions set by local Peruvian authorities in terms of allowable reject to environment.
This has been made possible by installing 3-stage of mechanical vapour recompression in series associated to 4 forced circulation evaporators, made of high grade materials.
France Evaporation, in partnership with Pöyry engineering, has recently commissioned a digestate treatment unit at the Gasum site of Topinoja in Turku (Finland).
The unit is equipped with several evaporators enabling to reduce by a factor of 12 the volume of digestate entering into the unit. A post-treatment by stripping allows the production of a nitrogen fertilizer containing 12% N.

Start up of a 180 000 tons/yr digestate treatment unit
A 180 000 tons/year unit for the treatment of digestate has been started by France Evaporation for the Op de Beeck company in Belgium during the last quarter of 2016.
This installation combines :
- Hygienisation of digestates
- Falling film evaporator
- Finishing via a forced circulation evaporator
- Stripping of condensates
From a thermal point of view, the Mechanical Vacuum Recompression (VMR) unit combined with the recovery of hot water from the cogeneration engines makes it possible to control the energy costs of the unit, as well as possible.

The erection of a 60,000 tons/year digestate treatment unit has started. Commissioning of the unit is expected in early 2017.
France Evaporation teams have just finished the commissioning of a leachates treatment unit. The capacity was increased from 65,000 tons to 125,000 tons.
22 tons/hr recompressed with a differencial temperature of 40°C.
Installed in a sugar refinery, the unit is equipped with 6 fan-type series compressors. This is one of the first facilities in the world using as many compression stages.
Compressing 22 tons/hr with a differencial temperature of 40° C, this unit enables substantially energy savings. Indeed, 100,000 MW are saved every year.
