When trust and sustainability come together

When trust is built over time, it gives rise to projects with high added value.

Recently, a new evaporator and compressor were installed at the LEIESTROOM methanization site in Menin (Belgium), in collaboration with BiogasTec NV.

This site holds a special place in FE’s history: the first facility was commissioned here in 2011. More than ten years later, this historic collaboration continues and grows stronger, driven by a shared commitment to technological and energy innovation.

A transition to more efficient energy use

As part of this modernization, LEIESTROOM has decided to upgrade its process by abandoning cogeneration engines and evaporation ponds in favor of a solution based on Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVT).
This transition now enables controlled electricity consumption, while improving the site’s overall efficiency and reducing its environmental impact.

A system complemented by a high-performance pre-evaporator

The installation was completed with a pre-evaporator (PEV) with hot water heating, optimizing the use of available thermal energy. This configuration improves process efficiency while enhancing the sustainability and robustness of operations.

This project highlights the renewed confidence of a long-standing partner and FE’s expertise in industrial equipment designed to last and evolve.
