FE by France Evaporation is proud to announce the gradual commissioning of its latest project carried out in collaboration with ArcelorMittal at the Mardyck industrial site (Nord). This project is part of a relationship of trust built up over nearly 10 years, based on a common goal: to optimize effluent treatment while reducing the environmental footprint of the steel industry.
An initial structuring project starting in 2016
In 2016, an initial installation developed by FE by France Evaporation significantly reduced the volume of oily emulsions, a liquid waste product directly resulting from steel production. This solution already represented a major advance in terms of reducing the volumes to be treated and improving environmental performance.
A new project to support industrial development
With the creation of new electric steel production lines, ArcelorMittal faced an increase in the volume of effluent to be treated. In this context, the group once again called on the expertise of FE by France Evaporation to design a solution capable of:
- Significantly reduce associated treatment costs,
- Increase wastewater treatment capacity,
- Promote the reuse of resources within the industrial site.
The condensate produced by the installation is thus reintegrated into the plant’s internal circuits, allowing direct reuse and limiting the need for external resources.
High-performance technology for decarbonization
Thanks to our Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) falling film technology, this new facility will be able to treat an additional 25,000 tons of effluent per year.
This reduces volumes by a factor of 30, while generating a tangible environmental impact with an estimated saving of 4,000 tons of CO₂ per year.
This performance illustrates the ability of FE by France Evaporation technologies to meet industrial challenges while actively contributing to decarbonization and sustainable industry objectives.
